New Year ~ 2016

I first want to wish you a very Happy New Year and welcome you to my blog. I've been working very hard over the last year to learn more about myself, chipping away at the excess and revealing a more authentic self. The idea for this blog actually came to me this morning after I tried to do a twenty minute meditation but only made it nine minutes because my core began to have a tingling sensation and I had to stop. I got up to take a shower and thought about how I could start this new year off right with great ideas, how to keep myself accountable and to use this blog as inspiration to stick with things when the going gets tough.

I'm up for quite a life changing year in 2016. I've been accepted into a Licensed Practical Nurse program and more than ever I will need to keep a routine for school and self care. Using this blog will allow me to put into writing all the things I want to accomplish so that I will be able to take care of myself, which in turn, will allow me to care for my patients better. I'm very excited to be on this journey and it feels like the road is opening up before me and my dreams are endless.

I will use this blog to track my new years resolutions. I will be posting new entries a few times a week. I will share recipes, links to articles I find helpful, talking about books that have been helpful and any other fun bit of information I want to share. Below are that things I would like to accomplish this year.
1. Work up to meditating 20 minutes every day.
2. Cook a homemade meal on Wednesday nights.
3. Bake a dessert on Sunday to take for work Monday.
4. Make a healthy green smoothie for breakfast on workdays.
5. Use the elliptical at work for 30 minutes, 3 times a week.
I'm really focusing on self love this year. I need to start doing things that show myself I am important and worth the effort. I'm really going to make that a priority.

I frequent mindbodygreen.com a lot (you should check it out if you already haven't) and came across an article about making a spiritual breakthrough.  It listed the four stages but I was thinking you could apply those four stages to any relationship in your life. And I figure I could apply it to this new year and new idea for this blog. In the beginning you have this amazing energy and drive to tackle this new task but as time goes on the excitement wears off and you have to dig deeper and push through self talk that might be counterproductive. I'm hoping that after a few months this becomes a habit and second nature and it really becomes a life line for me to keep me headed in the right direction. Thank you for following along!
